Girls Rock Austin is dedicated to empowering womxn, girls, gender-expansive, and BIPOC individuals through music education, mentorship, and self-care. GRA firmly believes financial, physical, and social barriers should not prevent anyone from gaining the self-esteem, self-efficacy, and agency that comes from creative expression and thus provides scholarships and financial assistance for all of our programs. Through mentorship and creative expression, we aim to provide a safe space for folks to try new things, gain leadership and collaboration skills, share their stories, and be heard, creating a positive social change in our local communities and the world.

Girls Rock Austin is inspired by Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls, which debuted in Portland, Oregon, in 2001. In the years immediately following, Girls Rock Camps began popping up internationally. Inspired by this movement, Girls Rock Austin was formed in 2007 in hopes of creating a program that shares the vision of the Girls Rock Camp movement while catering to the unique needs of our local community.
