Supporting Sovereignty: Indigenous communities continue to fight for their rights and self-determination. Standing in solidarity means recognizing these struggles and supporting efforts for justice—much like how Girls Rock Austin empowers youth to stand up, be heard, and create change. 💪✨ So, how are you celebrating today? This year on October 25th at the ABGB, we will be hosting our very first youth Haunted House and Halloween Party. This event is open to youth, parents, guardians and GRA volunteers and staff only, but adults are welcome to catch the live music in the main hall of the ABGB. All proceeds will benefit Rock Camp 2025. Hosted in the event room of the ABGB, the evening will include a full night of karaoke, free pizza, pumpkin painting, and a costume contest! WHO IS COMING TO THIS EVENT?!

October is a vibrant month filled with celebrations, including 🌈 LGBTQ+ History Month and Filipino American History Month! 🇵🇭 It is a month to recognize and reflect on the contributions and struggles of diverse communities. Organizations like Girls Rock Austin empower girls, women, gender-expansive youth and trans youth through music, fostering self-expression and confidence. National Coming Out Day also falls in October, encouraging individuals to share their stories. Supporting these initiatives through donations promotes diversity, inclusion, and awareness in our communities.

October 10th marks World Mental Health Day, and this week is Mental Illness Awareness Week. Here at GRA we put mental health first and invite you to show up as your whole, authentic self. You are an important part of the Austin music scene and your voice matters! Everyone deserves a support system and access to the resources they need to thrive. This #WorldMentalHealthDay, check on your loved ones and be honest with them about how you’re feeling, too. Every open conversation brings us closer to removing stigma from mental health. Join us for a day of diy-ing for GRA’s first Annual Halloween Party and Haunted House. If you’ve been wanting to volunteer, we could really use your help! We’d love if you could bring at least one of these things, but no worries or not! We’ll still need all the help we can get.
